Toolkiya is an independent web project built around a single principle: the small utilities you reach for every day — merging a PDF, compressing a photo for an email, generating a QR code, decoding a JWT, drafting a rent receipt — should never require an account, never upload your files to a third-party server, and never be locked behind a paywall or daily quota. They are small jobs. They should be free, fast, and private.

The site is a single Next.js application that ships nearly one hundred client-side tools across nine categories: PDF utilities, image editors, QR and barcode tools, AI-assisted helpers, developer utilities like JSON formatters and regex testers, calculators, document and bill generators for Indian users, festival creatives, and general-purpose utilities. Each tool is implemented as a browser-native module — pdf-lib for PDF manipulation, the Canvas API and WebAssembly libraries for image work, the Web Crypto API for hashes and JWT verification, and WebRTC for our peer-to-peer file sender. There is no backend doing the heavy lifting, because the heavy lifting on a modern phone or laptop is already fast enough to do the work locally.

Toolkiya is built and maintained by Mayank Rai, a solo developer based in Lucknow, India. The project began as a frustration with having to register on five different websites, dismiss popups, and accept tracking cookies just to compress a single PDF for a college application form. If a tool only takes a few seconds to run, then the effort of creating an account, watching ads play, and waiting for an upload is completely out of proportion to the task. Toolkiya removes all of that friction. You land on a page, you do the thing, you leave.

Privacy here is not a checkbox in a settings menu — it is a consequence of architecture. Because every tool runs inside your browser tab, your bank statements, identity documents, family photos, and proprietary work never travel over the network. There is no server to subpoena, no log file to leak, no third-party processor in the chain. For tools that genuinely need a server (the optional AI helpers, our P2P signaling channel for file transfer), we use the minimum viable infrastructure and document exactly what is sent.
