Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use my phone as a webcam?▼
Open this page on your laptop, then scan the QR code with your phone (or open the same URL). Grant camera permission on the phone, and the video appears on your laptop in the browser — ready to snapshot, record, or just watch. No app install required.
Can I use it as a webcam in Zoom / Google Meet?▼
Not directly — browsers don't let web pages register as system webcams. What you CAN do is use Phone Webcam for in-browser video previews, snapshot capture, and screen recording. For Zoom/Meet replacement, look at OBS Studio's virtual camera + this page.
Does it work on iPhone?▼
Yes. iPhone Safari supports getUserMedia and WebRTC. You'll be prompted to grant camera access when you scan the QR code. Make sure to tap 'Allow' on the permission dialog.
Is the video sent to your servers?▼
No. Video streams directly from your phone to your laptop over an encrypted WebRTC connection. Toolkiya never sees the video content. If your network blocks direct peer-to-peer, it routes through Cloudflare's TURN relay with end-to-end encryption still intact.
What's the video quality?▼
Up to the phone camera's maximum resolution (typically 1080p or 4K on modern phones). WebRTC will automatically adapt bitrate based on network conditions, so if your Wi-Fi is slow, the quality drops smoothly instead of freezing.
