Why do I need rent receipts for HRA?▼
If your annual rent exceeds Rs. 1,00,000, you must submit rent receipts to your employer to claim HRA exemption under Section 10(13A) of the Income Tax Act.
Do I need revenue stamps on rent receipts?▼
Revenue stamps of Rs. 1 are required on rent receipts for cash payments exceeding Rs. 5,000. For digital payments (UPI/bank transfer), stamps are not mandatory.
