Internet Speed Test
Measure your download, upload, and ping speeds. Free, accurate, no signup.
How the Internet Speed Test Works
Toolkiya's speed test measures your internet connection by downloading and uploading test data to Cloudflare's global edge network. It measures three key metrics: download speed (how fast data arrives at your device), upload speed (how fast you can send data), and latency or ping (the round-trip time for a single packet of data).
The test runs directly in your browser using the Fetch API to stream data to and from the nearest Cloudflare data center. Results are displayed in Mbps (megabits per second) for throughput and milliseconds for latency. No software installation is needed.
When to Run a Speed Test
Checking if your internet connection meets the requirements for video streaming or gaming. Verifying that you are getting the speeds your ISP promised. Diagnosing slow loading times on websites or applications. Comparing WiFi performance in different rooms or locations. Testing connection quality before an important video call or online meeting.
Why Test Speed with Toolkiya
Ookla Speedtest requires installing a desktop app for accurate results and shows ads. Fast.com by Netflix only measures download speed, not upload or latency.
Toolkiya's speed test measures download, upload, and latency in a single clean interface with no ads, no app installation, and no account. It uses Cloudflare's infrastructure for accurate global measurements and displays results in a clear, shareable format.
Frequently Asked Questions
How accurate is this speed test?▼
It uses 4 parallel streams to Cloudflare's global edge network and skips the TCP slow-start phase for accurate measurement. Results are typically within 5-10% of Speedtest.net or Fast.com on the same connection.
What does Mbps mean?▼
Mbps stands for megabits per second. 1 byte = 8 bits, so a 100 Mbps connection can download roughly 12.5 MB per second.
What is latency/ping and jitter?▼
Latency (ping) is the round-trip time for a small request, measured in milliseconds. Jitter is the variation in ping over multiple tries. Low ping + low jitter = smooth gaming and video calls.
Why does my result differ from Speedtest.net?▼
Results vary based on test server location, network congestion, time of day, WiFi signal strength, and other devices using your network. This tool measures speed to Cloudflare's nearest edge server.
Is my data safe?▼
Yes. The test only downloads/uploads random bytes from Cloudflare to measure throughput. No personal data is collected or stored.
