How the IP Checker Works
Toolkiya's IP checker asks your browser to query multiple public IP-lookup services (ipapi.co, ipify.org, ipwho.is) directly from your device, then displays your public IPv4 and IPv6 address along with the approximate country, region, city, ISP, and timezone reported by those services. The lookup uses your current network's perceived IP — if you're on a VPN, it shows the VPN's IP; if you're behind corporate NAT, it shows the gateway's IP.
Nothing is stored or logged by Toolkiya. The requests go browser-to-provider, so Toolkiya's servers never see your IP address. The displayed geo-data comes from the provider's GeoIP database, which is approximate (typically accurate to city level, sometimes only country-level).
When to Check Your IP
Verifying that a VPN or proxy is working — your visible IP should match the VPN server's location, not your ISP's. Diagnosing geo-blocked services (Netflix regions, YouTube music availability, streaming content) by confirming what country your traffic appears from. Configuring firewall rules on remote servers where you need to allow-list your home or office IP. Checking whether your ISP assigned IPv6 — many Indian and US residential ISPs now provide both.
Gamers use it to verify connection geography for matchmaking. Developers use it for whitelisting SSH access and database connections. Journalists and researchers use it when traveling to confirm which country's content Google, Twitter, or news sites are serving them.
Why Check IP with Toolkiya
Many IP-checker sites plaster ads, pop-ups, and push notifications around your IP address — the most sensitive data they're showing you. Toolkiya shows the data cleanly with no ads adjacent to the result.
The tool queries multiple providers in parallel and cross-references the results, so you see discrepancies (rare, but can happen when your ISP routes traffic through different gateways). It displays both IPv4 and IPv6 when available. No signup, no tracking, no IP is stored or logged on our end — the call is browser-to-provider.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an IP address?▼
An IP (Internet Protocol) address is a unique numerical label assigned to every device connected to the internet. It serves as your device's identity on the network.
What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?▼
IPv4 uses a 32-bit format (e.g. 192.168.1.1) while IPv6 uses a 128-bit format (e.g. 2001:0db8::1). IPv6 was created to handle the exhaustion of IPv4 addresses.
Can someone find my exact location from my IP?▼
No. IP geolocation provides an approximate location, usually the city or region level. It cannot pinpoint your exact street address.
Is my data safe?▼
Yes. We fetch your IP from a third-party API and display it in your browser. No data is stored on our servers.
