How Wireless Clipboard Sync Works

Toolkiya's Wireless Clipboard creates a direct WebRTC connection between two browsers — one on your phone, one on your laptop. Once paired with a 6-character code, anything you type or paste in the shared text area appears instantly on the other device.

The text travels directly between the two browsers over an encrypted peer-to-peer data channel. Toolkiya's servers only handle the initial pairing handshake — the actual clipboard content never touches our infrastructure. This works across any combination of devices and operating systems: iPhone to Windows, Android to Mac, iPad to Linux.

When to Use Wireless Clipboard

Copying a URL from your phone browser to your laptop or vice versa. Transferring a code snippet, password, or one-time code between devices. Moving text from a mobile note-taking app to a desktop document. Copying addresses, phone numbers, or other text found on your phone to your laptop. Quick cross-device text sharing without email, messaging apps, or cloud sync.

Why Use Toolkiya Clipboard Instead of AirDrop or Universal Clipboard

Apple's Universal Clipboard only works between Apple devices on the same iCloud account. AirDrop is limited to Apple devices on the same WiFi network. There is no built-in solution for iOS-to-Windows or Android-to-Mac clipboard sharing.

Toolkiya's Wireless Clipboard works between any two devices with a browser, on any network, with any operating system. No app install, no account, no cloud sync setup. The connection is encrypted end-to-end and the pairing code expires after 5 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is wireless clipboard sync?

Copy text on one device and it instantly appears on another device — your phone and laptop behave as if they share a clipboard, without installing anything. Everything runs in the browser over a direct WebRTC peer-to-peer connection.

Does it work between different operating systems?

Yes. iPhone to Windows, Android to Mac, Mac to Linux — any combination. As long as both devices have a modern browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge), it works.

Is my clipboard text sent to your servers?

Never. Text travels directly from one browser to the other over an encrypted WebRTC data channel. Toolkiya only sees the ephemeral 6-character room code used for pairing, never the text content.

Can other people read my clipboard if they guess the code?

Only if they also have your 6-character code and are online at the same moment. Once the session ends, the code is discarded. We recommend using this for casual text sharing, not for passwords or highly sensitive information.

What's the difference between this and AirDrop?

AirDrop only works between Apple devices on the same Wi-Fi network. Wireless Clipboard works across any device, any OS, anywhere in the world — as long as both devices have internet access.
