Screen Recorder Online Free — No Download, No Watermark

Need a quick screen recording for a bug report, tutorial, client demo, or Loom-style walkthrough? Toolkiya records full screen, a specific window, or just one browser tab — with or without microphone — right in your browser. No signup, no watermark, no 5-minute cap.

How It Works

The tool uses the browser's native getDisplayMedia API — the same technology Google Meet and Microsoft Teams use for screen sharing. Nothing is uploaded. The video is captured and encoded locally, then offered as a direct download when you stop the recording.

  1. Click Start Recording and pick what to capture (screen, window, or tab).
  2. Choose whether to include your microphone audio.
  3. Record as long as you want — no cap.
  4. Click Stop, preview the clip, and download.

What You Can Record

  • Entire screen — Everything across all monitors. Best for app demos and walkthroughs.
  • A specific window — Just Figma, VS Code, Excel, etc. — nothing outside that window is captured.
  • A single browser tab — The cleanest option for web-app demos. Includes tab audio.

Browser Compatibility

Works in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave, and Opera on desktop. Safari supports screen recording on macOS 14+. Mobile browsers don't expose the screen capture API — for phone screen recording, use the built-in OS recorder (iOS Control Center or Android Quick Settings).

Recording Tips

  • Close unrelated tabs before hitting record, so sensitive info doesn't leak into the clip.
  • Enable microphone only if you're narrating. Ambient noise is surprisingly distracting in playback.
  • Use tab capture when recording web demos — it produces smaller files than full screen.
  • Test once — do a 5-second test recording to confirm audio and cursor are captured as expected.
  • Clean up the cursor — move slowly and deliberately. Fast flicks are hard to follow on playback.

What's the Output Format?

Recordings are saved as WebM (Chrome/Edge/Firefox) or MP4 depending on browser support. Both formats upload directly to YouTube, Loom, Google Drive, Slack, Notion, and GitHub. If you need to share via WhatsApp or iOS Messages, convert to MP4 first.

Privacy

Everything runs locally. Your screen never streams to Toolkiya's servers — we literally can't see what you're recording. The output file is generated in your browser's memory and saved directly to your Downloads folder.

Alternatives Compared

Loom and Screencastify require signup, cap free recordings at 5 minutes, and stamp a watermark. Desktop tools like OBS work well but take time to install and configure. Toolkiya is the simplest option when you just need to capture something right now and move on.
